Collection: Gond Art

The Gonds are among the largest tribes in Central India.   They paint or decorate their mud walls and home to depict local flora, fauna and gods such as Marahi Devi and Phulvari Devi (Goddess Kali).  The artistes use natural colour like charcoal, coloured soil, plant sap, leaves and cow dung.  Dots and lines are used to create this mystical and enchanting art.   Story telling is the main element of Gond painting.  It is believed that good image of Gond art brings good luck.
